Rain Delays but Doesn't Postpone, Rangers Settle with One

In a Great Lakes Valley Conference softball doubleheader between UW-Parkside 10-10 (1-5) and Saint Joseph’s 17-10 (6-4), both teams came away with a victory at the Case Complex. The doubleheader was scheduled to start at noon, however, due to rain, the game was delayed three hours.

Game one started off rocky for Parkside, as they struggled to a 2-0 deficit through two innings. Cleaning up their act, Parkside wouldn't allow any more runs for the rest of the game. Parkside quickly took the lead by scoring four runs in the third inning.

Liermann's Walk-Off Picks Up Split for Parkside

The UW-Parkside Rangers (10-19) played a double header Friday afternoon against the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons (6-23) of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rangers played at a very windy, hitter-friendly Oberbruner Field, and those in attendance certainly got their chance to see offense. The two teams put up fifty-one runs over the course of the two games, which was greatly contributed to a strong breeze to the left-center alley way.

Opening Home Series Ends Successfully

Parkside 9-16 (4-8) competed with Lewis 14-15 (5-7) four times in two days. After grabbing victories the first two games on Saturday, they settled with splitting the next two on Sunday.

The Rangers lost the first game, 2-0, in large part because of Lewis' ace Pat Lahey, who only gave up three hits. Parkside had a difficult time generating offense, as they left four people on base, and only managed three hits.

UW-Parkside Women’s Basketball: 2009-2010 Overview

When the UW-Parkside women’s basketball team’s season started, nobody could've expected that the Rangers would achieve the success they did. 2009-2010 was a year that many school records were broken.

The squad posted a school-record 23 wins, and also earned a fourth seed in the NCAA Division II tournament. The head coach of the women’s basketball team is Jenny Kenesie, who is currently only nine wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach in UW-Parkside history.

Rangers Advance to the GLVC Semifinals

It was a thrilling and physical game at DeSimone Gymnasium Sunday afternoon, and it continued the women’s basketball team’s historic run this season. The Parkside Rangers recorded their first ever Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament win with a 50-36 victory over the visiting Northern Kentucky Norse.

Rangers Make History and Win Huge, 90-44

The Rangers set school history today with their big 90-44 victory over the University of Illinois-Springfield. The Rangers twenty-first win of the season is a school record, and netted them the North Division crown in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

“I’m really proud of them,” said Head Coach Jenny Kenesie after the game. “I thought we came out really strong. We played with a lot of intensity on the defensive end very early. Our starters got us out to a great start.”

Rangers Win Twentieth of the Season

It was a wire to wire win for the Rangers Thursday night at DeSimone Gymnasium. The Rangers defeated the visiting Saint Joseph’s College Pumas by the final score of 67-53. The Parkside victory equaled a university record of twenty wins in a season, set by the 2004-05 team which picked up an NCAA tournament bid.

“It was an important game for us,” said Head Coach Jenny Kenesie. “We needed to come out and get a victory. Every time St. Joseph’s was trying to get a run going we didn’t allow that to happen, and that was important.”

Persistence Not Enough, Rangers Lose 58-63

The UW-Parkside Rangers (8-16, 3-12 within the Great Lakes Valley Conference) faced the Lewis Flyers (15-9, 7-8 in the GLVC) for the second straight game. Their meeting last week was at Lewis University, and saw a 53-64 Parkside loss. The Rangers entered this game on a four game losing skid, and a five straight home losing streak. While it wasn’t the wire to wire game as it was in Lewis, it was another difficult loss for the Men’s Basketball team on Feb. 11 at DeSimone Gymnasium, and the Rangers fell to the Lewis University, 58-63.
